I'd make a compromise elsewhere in my house for playing. Just saying, that I'd personally never even consider it. I'm not trying to scare you out of it, maybe it'd work out. The electrics would have more of a shot :S It just doesn't seem like it'd fair well. If you are still intent on this, I'd suggest you don't keep the acoustic out there. Watch the snow/wind wreak havoc in your treasured man-cave. Plus, when it snows you'll track water + well. Not to mention you just moved in, so you don't know the water runoff/standing water situation for exceptionally heavy rains yet. If it were me, my collection would never be near that shed. It also sounds like, from your description, that you live in a place where the seasons are quite different. So even if you have a space heater and an a/c unit, it's the pressure changes and humidity that will get you. Honestly, it's not the change in temperature that will get you in the long run. Would suck if they were damaged/warped, but I regularly abuse them myself way more than anyone on /r/guitar would be comfortable with. Thanks for all the positive (and a few disturbingly negative) comments.ĮDIT 2: I probably should have mentioned that all my guitars except one are $100-200 beaters that I'm not really emotionally attached to. And most items can be had for 50-65 of List depending on how stingy the Sales rep is and or if you are an aquaintance of the manager. I tell people all the time: Guitar Center is a used car lot- EVERYTHING IS NEGOTIABLE. I could probably even soundproof the shed pretty easily to keep from bothering the neighbors.ĮDIT: I'm probably going to keep everything in the house, the shed sounds too risky in multiple ways. That will get you far below the total with sales tax plus much more in savings from the sale price advertised. What would I need to be worried about if I were to throw all my gear in the shed? I could probably throw in a small, portable AC unit for the summer and a space heater for when it's cold. I have 5 electrics, 2 basses, an acoustic guitar, and two solid-state amps that would have to endure this. It will probably be freezing in the winter. The shed has very little ventilation or insulation, and felt like a sauna when I was moving in last week. What I AM worried about are weather conditions and environmental factors such as humidity. It has electricity, outlets, lighting, and is able to be secured from the outside so no worries there. I would like to make this my guitar shed. in the garage, so I have the shed available for pretty much anything. I just bought a house with both a sizable garage and a large wooden shed (it looks a lot like this one).
